Young People Today - Concert by Clevedon Valley Music Foundation Trust
The final concert in The Clevedon Valley Music Foundation Trust’s very successful Sunday Serenades at St Andrews will be held on Sun Oct 7th at the St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Clevedon at 1.45 pm, followed by light refreshments. Well known for its wonderful outreach programmes, the Church is a superb venue to celebrate the talent of some extraordinary young musicians in our midst.
The Clevedon Valley Music Foundation Trust* has been established by local residents to provide local and national New Zealand artists with the opportunity to perform and to share their talents. The trustees of CVMFT intend to develop and expand to be able to support a variety of artistic projects with an emphasis on emerging talent.
Performing artists in NZ and especially South Auckland, are always in need of quality venues with receptive audiences and they need promotion. Young performers find it hard to draw an audience for a one-off occasion. With the anticipated growth of Clevedon and surrounding areas, the demand for quality entertainment close by is increasing. Our local residents are seeking accessible music near home. The older generation and busy families struggle to find the extra time and cost for travelling to city venues. This series can serve both those groups by giving them a receptive, appreciative audience, and giving the audience a gift of music, which creates a moment of stillness and renewal in their schedules.
All performers on the programme are school students in the Auckland area with majority from South and East Auckland. The programme includes: Daniel Xian aged 10 from Papakura (piano), Harrison Chau aged 18 (harp), Martin Moattar aged 13 (soprano), Sophia Liu aged 7 (piano), Crissy Sanders aged 16 (clarinet), Esther Philip aged 17 (piano), Ethan Chiao 11 (violoncello), Tiari Kaka aged 14 (piano), Oliver Vannoort aged 15 (baritone)
Items include songs from The Wizard of Oz and Les Misérables, music by Mozart, JS Bach, Martini and Mike Cornick, Beethoven, Debussy and the beautiful Dona Nobis Pacem.
We hope that you can come and support these remarkable young performers, all of whom are certain to become exceptional members of our remarkable community. Entrance/exit donation, and there is a delicious afternoon tea at the conclusion of the concert. All welcome! Proceeds to various charitable music project, with a focus on supporting young musicians to attend workshops and courses.
